Willow Oak has the most delicate texture of all the oaks, though it becomes a large, 45-90ft tall, broadly pyramidal tree. Long, slim leaves, like those of the weeping willow are a soft fresh green through summer, clear yellow to russet-red in autumn. This oak is fast growing, easy to transplant (it has a fibrous root system), adaptable and long-lived. Use this lovely tree as a specimen, a street tree, or on a large property, create an avenue of Willow Oaks down both sides of a road or lane. It prefers moist, well-drained soil, in the sun, but can be grown in many situations, even difficult sites.
