Bur Oak is aristocratic, with a magnificent branching pattern. This impressive tree has architectural beauty. It is slow growing to 50ft with nearly the same width. The name comes from the large, 1 ½inch acorns with their heavily fringed cups. Not common in the West, it needs a large space to accommodate its size and form. Best transplanted when small, it will grow in almost any soil, well-drained and sunny.
