The slow-growing Cedar of Lebanon may reach a hundred feet or more at maturity. This is a slow-growing, majestic tree with a massive trunk and wide-spreading crown, on branches spreading horizontally in tiers at maturity. When young, it is more dense and pyramidal. Dark-green, inch-long needles are borne in whorls of 10-20. Barrel-shaped cones are 4-5in long and grow upright above the foliage. The closely-branched structure of youth becomes the widely-spaced and spreading crown of age. Plant in full sun and provide good drainage and moderate water for best growth, although it is relatively drought tolerant.
