Ordering Information

Our commitment to you is to grow quality plants, to offer them at a fair price, and to deliver them on time.

Please understand that nurseries deal with dynamic inventory, green and living, not canned. Plants get bigger, develop stronger roots, need to be re-potted to larger containers or moved into field growing conditions. Some plants should not be moved or shipped except when they are dormant. Bare root plants should only be shipped during cool months. Weather conditions, drought or flood, unusual demand, any or all of these can affect our schedule. We ship on plant time.

We evaluate every plant that leaves our nursery. We check its vigor and growth habits in terms of that species, because we want to be sure it will perform well for you. We try to send out plants we would want to receive.

MINIMUM ORDER:We do not have a minimum order for plants picked up at the Nursery.

SHIPPING: We no longer ship out small orders. We deliver and plant locally on every other Wednesday. Large Truck Load Orders can be set up.

TERMS: We accept payment by Visa, MasterCard, and Discover card. Note that we do not bill credit cards until orders are shipped, so that we charge only for plants actually shipped and shipping charges. Personal checks accepted from established cutomers, net thirty days. Past due accounts are subject to a 1.5% per month service charge (18% annual rate).

SUBSTITUTIONS: We try to send you the plants you order in the sizes you prefer. It may be necessay to substitute a size smaller or larger than the size requested. The price would change accordingly. If you do not wish any size substitution, please note this when you order and we will respect your wishes.

SIZES: (We are working on a page of photographs to show the various sizes we offer--it will be ready soon.) Briefly, here is a description of the sizes and containers we use for out plants:

  • Bare root (BR): usually seedlings, shipped without soil on the roots.
  • Tubling: air root-pruning pot, 2 by 5 1/2 inches, used for starting plants
  • Band Pot (BP): 2 7/8 by 6 or 9 inch plastic container
  • 1 gallon:
  • 2 gallon:
  • 5 gallon:
  • Ball and Burlap (b&b): a field grown plant that has been dug, with the root ball wrapped in burlap, usually with a wire basket to hold it firm.
  • Balls will range from 12 inches to 32 inches in diameter. Plant size is measured in caliper quarter inches for deciduous trees (the diameter of the trunk at six inches above the ground, divided by quarter inches), and in height in feet for evergreens.
